Big flowers on a small plant! Pugster White® gives butterfly bushes a whole new look: - its small, sturdy frame bears large flowers the size you'd find on much taller plants. Each bloom is a full, dense cluster of crisp white blooms, emitting a honey-sweet fragrance and treating bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds to a tasty snack. Like all Proven Winners butterfly bushes, it blooms all summer without deadheading. Because of their thick, strong stems, Pugster® butterfly bushes have better hardiness and winter survival in zone 5 than other dwarf varieties.
Top three reasons to grow Pugster White® butterfly bush:
- Large, full-sized white blooms shine on summer nights.
- Thicker stems ensure better winter survival than other small butterfly bushes.
- Blooms continuously without deadheading.
Fragrant Flower. Continuous bloom or rebloomer. Deadheading not necessary. Attracts bees, butterflies and hummingbirds.
Resists deer and rabbits. Drought tolerant.
Uses: landscape, border plant, container, edging, groundcover, mass planting, specimen or focal point. Sun Height: short - 24" Plant: 36" - 48" apart Habit: mounded Growability: easy Needs good drainage
Long-blooming habit and vivid color make it the perfect addition to flower gardens and perennial beds.
Maintenance Notes:
Requires very well-drained soils, especially in late winter/early spring when temperatures are cold. Prune in spring after new growth has begun to emerge on the stems, cutting back to just above a healthy, vigorous bud.
If you have trouble with butterfly bush surviving winter in your climate, be sure that when you plant it, the crown of the plant is higher than, rather than at or below, the ground level. You should also avoid pruning until new growth is underway in spring; do not prune before winter.
